What does error code U11EA-00 mean?
Error code U11EA-00 indicates a critical loss of communication between the Airbag Control Module (ACM) and the Dynamic Sensor. This means the control module is no longer receiving data from the acceleration or G-sensor, which are essential for correctly deploying the airbags in the event of a crash. As a result, the entire safety system switches to a fault mode.
Technically speaking, this error interrupts data transmission on the CAN bus—the vehicle’s internal communication network. The Dynamic Sensor continuously provides information on longitudinal and lateral acceleration as well as the vehicle’s yaw rate. Without these inputs, the airbag control module cannot accurately assess the severity of an impact and therefore cannot activate the restraint systems appropriately.
The “-00” suffix in the error code typically points to a general or unspecified fault related to this communication loss. The root cause may lie anywhere along the signal chain.
How can you recognize error U11EA-00?
The most obvious symptom of error U11EA-00 is a permanently illuminated airbag warning light on the instrument cluster. Often, the error code cannot be cleared with a diagnostic tool and reappears immediately. In some cases, communication with the airbag control module is completely lost.
The airbag warning light indicates that the system is disabled and will not provide any protective function in the event of a crash. It remains lit after starting the vehicle and does not turn off as it normally would during normal operation.
Another characteristic is the persistence of the error. Even if the error code is cleared, the control module quickly detects the missing communication again and re-records the fault in its memory. This suggests a serious hardware or wiring issue.
What causes U11EA-00?
The most common cause of U11EA-00 is problems with the physical connection—such as defective or corroded connectors and damaged wiring harnesses. Other potential causes include a faulty Dynamic Sensor itself, an internal defect within the airbag control module, or a general malfunction on the CAN bus.
Often, damaged cables or loose connectors are at the forefront. Moisture, corrosion, or damage caused by animals can disrupt the wiring between the airbag control module and the Dynamic Sensor.
The Dynamic Sensor (G-sensor) itself may also fail. Internal electronic faults in the sensor can prevent it from transmitting data, which the control module interprets as a communication failure.
In rarer cases, the issue lies within the airbag control module itself. A defect in the CAN transceiver or other internal components can hinder the processing of sensor signals. Frequently, U11EA-00 is accompanied by additional error codes such as U0125-00 (loss of communication with the Dynamic Sensor module) or B1000/B1111 (internal control module error).

Error code U11EA-00 is particularly prevalent in vehicles manufactured by the Chrysler Group. Specifically, the Chrysler Town & Country model from the GS series is well-known for this particular communication issue.
