What does the airbag control unit 95910-CV050 do?

The airbag control unit 95910-CV050 is the central control unit of the restraint system (SRS) for Kia. It evaluates the signals from the crash sensors and, in an emergency, decides within milliseconds which airbags and seatbelt pretensioners are triggered.

It also monitors the system continuously and reports a fault via the airbag warning light in the instrument cluster.

After an accident it stores crash data and locks itself. The lock is only lifted by the repair.
