What does the airbag control unit 95910-D4650 do?

The airbag control unit 95910-D4650 is the central evaluation unit of the restraint system (SRS) of Kia. It evaluates the signals from the crash sensors, decides in an accident within milliseconds whether airbags and seatbelt pretensioners are triggered, and reports faults via the airbag warning light.

During operation the control unit continuously monitors sensors, igniters and wiring. If it detects a deviation, it stores the fault in the fault memory, which a diagnosis can read out later.
