What is an Audi A6 e-tron 1st generation Sportback airbag control unit?

In the Audi A6 e-tron 1st generation Sportback, the airbag control unit is the central unit of the restraint system (SRS). It evaluates the signals from the crash sensors, determines within milliseconds in an accident which airbags and seatbelt pretensioners deploy, and indicates faults via the airbag warning light.
