It's important to note that the GTV6 (Type 116) should not be confused with the later Alfa Romeo GTV (Type 916), which was produced from 1993 onwards and is considered its successor. The Type 916 was then equipped with driver and passenger airbags as standard, representing a significant technological leap.
It's highly unlikely that you'll find a standard airbag control unit in the Alfa Romeo GTV6 (1981-1986), as these models were delivered without airbags. If you suspect that your GTV6 has an airbag control unit, it may be due to confusion with a later Alfa Romeo GTV (Type 916) or a very rare, non-original aftermarket installation.
To identify airbag control units in other airbag-equipped Alfa Romeo models, the following applies: Airbag control units can usually be clearly identified by the part number, the vehicle's year of manufacture, and often also the vehicle identification number (VIN). The part number is usually printed directly on the module's housing.
