What should I know about Aston Martin airbag control units?
The airbag control unit in an Aston Martin is built differently depending on model and year. In our workshop in Berlin we test your Aston Martin airbag control unit, erase stored crash data and repair faulty electronics.
Aston Martin is a British maker of sports cars and grand tourers. The brand was founded in 1913 and is based in Gaydon, Warwickshire. The cars are built in comparatively small numbers, and the technology depends heavily on the model. The airbag control unit evaluates the signals from the crash sensors and decides which restraint systems to deploy in an accident. If it detects a fault, the airbag warning light comes on in the instrument cluster.
Typical reasons for a faulty airbag control unit are an accident with stored crash data, ageing electronics, voltage problems caused by the battery or a short circuit, and moisture at connectors and contacts. Aston Martin fault memories include messages about battery voltage that is too low or too high (codes 0005 and 0006), a failed CAN signal from the CEM (0128), internal component faults during initialisation (0131, 0132) or stored crash events (013B).
The airbag system is safety-critical. Have diagnosis and removal carried out by a specialist workshop only, and do not work on the airbag system yourself.

How do I identify my Aston Martin airbag control unit?
You can identify your Aston Martin airbag control unit by the part number on the unit's label or sticker. Together with model, year of manufacture and chassis number, this determines the correct variant.
Depending on the model, the control unit is located in a different place in the vehicle. Removal belongs in the hands of a specialist workshop, as the airbag system must not be triggered by accident. Afterwards, send the removed control unit to Airbag24, well packed.
The repaired control unit comes back with all vehicle data and is ready for use immediately after refitting.
What airbag equipment does Aston Martin have?
Aston Martin's airbag equipment differs by model, year of manufacture and market. Modern models generally have several airbags and belt systems, while older cars are more simply equipped.
Front airbags for driver and front passenger are usual, and many models add side and head airbags. For the equipment your car actually has, consult the owner's manual or the vehicle documents.
Whatever the scope, the control unit must work properly so that the restraint systems fitted deploy reliably in an emergency. If the airbag warning light stays on, have the control unit checked by a specialist workshop promptly.
