What should I bear in mind about Cupra Raval airbag control units?
The airbag control unit of the Cupra Raval evaluates the crash sensors, triggers the airbags and seat belt pretensioners, and monitors the entire airbag system. If it detects a fault, the airbag warning light comes on. Airbag24 repairs your control unit after you send it in.
After an accident, the control unit stores crash data and locks itself. Such a condition should be dealt with by a specialist workshop, as the airbag system is safety-critical.
We erase the crash data professionally during the repair. Whether a particular unit can be repaired only becomes clear once it has been checked in our workshop.
Which Cupra Raval generations are there?
The Cupra Raval has been built since 2026 in its 1st generation, and production is still ongoing. The generation alone is not enough to assign a control unit.
For your vehicle, the build year and equipment also matter, as control units can come in different variants within one generation.
- 1st generation (since 2026) – the generation currently being built.
How do I identify my Cupra Raval airbag control unit?
The part number on the control unit's label determines the exact version. Together with the build year and the vehicle identification number (VIN), it allows the correct unit to be identified.
The label is located on the control unit itself. Note the part number in full and have the build year, equipment and VIN to hand before you create a repair order.
The fault memory may contain codes that point to the airbag system. Examples are 00595 (crash data stored), U0151 (loss of communication with the airbag control unit) and 00588 (driver airbag igniter: resistance out of range or short circuit). A single code, however, does not prove a fault in the control unit.
What airbag equipment does the Cupra Raval have?
According to the manufacturer, the Cupra Raval comes as standard with seven airbags, including a centre airbag between the front seats. What counts, however, is what is fitted in your vehicle.
These include front, side and curtain airbags. The centre airbag is designed to stop the occupants of the front seats from striking each other in a side impact.
If the airbag warning light comes on, or the control unit was affected in an accident, the route to repair is as follows:
- Have the fault memory read by a specialist workshop.
- Disconnect the battery and have the control unit removed by a specialist workshop.
- Create a repair order online.
- Send the control unit to Airbag24.
Processing usually takes 3–4 working days and covers checking, repairing and testing. The repaired control unit is returned with all vehicle data and is ready for use immediately after refitting — coding or programming is not required.
