What should be considered with Isuzu airbag control units?
The Isuzu airbag control unit monitors the crash sensors and controls the deployment of the airbags. If the airbag light stays on or crash data was stored in an accident, the control unit needs to be repaired.
Isuzu is a Japanese manufacturer whose company history goes back to 1916. The brand is mainly known here for the D-Max pick-up, which has been offered since 2012. The number of models for which an airbag control unit is relevant is therefore small.
Typical causes of a defective control unit are an accident with stored crash data, ageing of the electronics, moisture on connectors and contacts, or voltage spikes in the vehicle electrical system. Frequently reported fault codes are U0151 (communication with the control unit lost), B1000 (internal control unit fault) and B0001 (driver airbag firing circuit fault). The codes B0083 and B0084 point to a signal problem at the front impact sensor, often caused by a connector contact or corrosion.
The airbag is safety-relevant. Have the system checked only by a specialist workshop and do not work on the airbag system yourself. You can send us the removed control unit for repair.
Which Isuzu models are there?
For Isuzu, Airbag24 repairs the airbag control unit of the Isuzu D-Max. In our shop the model is divided into the generations from 2012 to 2019 and from 2020 onwards.
The following Isuzu model is currently set up in our shop:
- Isuzu D-Max
The D-Max replaced the Rodeo and has been sold here since 2012. The model range has been revised over the years, and a new generation has been available since 2020. Which control unit is fitted in your vehicle depends on the year of manufacture and the equipment.
How do I identify my Isuzu airbag control unit?
You can identify your Isuzu airbag control unit by the part number on the unit's label. Together with the model, year of manufacture and vehicle identification number, the matching variant can be determined.
In most vehicles the control unit is located in the passenger compartment, often near the centre console or under a seat. The exact location may differ between generations. Removal should be left to a specialist workshop, because the system can deploy if handled incorrectly.
If you cannot find the part number, the vehicle identification number from the registration document helps with the assignment. Select your model and the matching generation in our shop and send the removed control unit to us, well packed, by parcel. On request, UPS will collect the parcel from you or your workshop for an additional charge.
What airbag equipment does Isuzu have?
The airbag equipment of an Isuzu depends on the model, year of manufacture and trim level. Front airbags for the driver and front passenger are usual, and depending on the version further airbags and sensors are added.
On the D-Max the scope differs between generations and trim lines. The safest way to find out which airbags are fitted in your vehicle is the owner's manual or the vehicle documents.
The control unit evaluates the signals from the sensors and decides in an emergency which airbags deploy. The repair takes place in our workshop in Berlin.
