Lotus Emeya airbag control unit repair(1)

What should I pay attention to with Lotus Emeya airbag control units?

The Lotus Emeya airbag control unit evaluates the crash sensors, triggers the airbags and belt tensioners, and monitors the entire airbag system. Faults are shown by the airbag warning light in the instrument cluster.

After an accident, the control unit stores crash data and locks itself. Airbag24 repairs the customer's own control unit once it has been sent in and erases the crash data.

The airbag system is safety-relevant. Work on it should be left to a specialist workshop, so please do not work on the airbag system yourself. After an accident or when the airbag warning light is on, the system should be checked by a specialist workshop. A fault can mean that the airbags or belt tensioners do not trigger in a crash.

Which Lotus Emeya generations are there?

So far, one series is listed for the Lotus Emeya: the Emeya, built since 2024. It is the first four-door model from Lotus.

The series is offered in several versions that differ in power output and battery size.

  • Emeya (since 2024, still in production): the current series, purely electric.

For the assignment, the model year and the exact version therefore matter, not just the model name.

How do I identify my Lotus Emeya airbag control unit?

The part number on the label of the control unit determines the exact version. The model year and the equipment of your vehicle complete the identification.

Read the part number from the label and note the vehicle identification number (VIN), which is listed in the vehicle papers. We need both to classify your unit.

Airbag fitment can vary by model year, market and trim level. Please check the label before you send the unit in.

Fault codes from the fault memory help to narrow things down, for example U0151 (communication with the airbag control unit lost), B0001 (driver front airbag stage 1, firing circuit faulty) or B0010 (passenger front airbag stage 1, firing circuit faulty). A single code does not prove a defect in the control unit, because cables, connectors or sensors can also trigger the message.

Which airbag equipment does the Lotus Emeya have?

The Lotus Emeya comes as standard with driver and passenger airbags, side airbags and curtain airbags. Depending on the variant, further airbags are added, such as a driver-side far-side airbag.

The airbag control unit coordinates these components and decides in a crash whether the airbags are triggered. In the event of a fault, the airbag warning light comes on and the unit stores the fault.

This is how your control unit gets to repair: have the fault memory read, disconnect the 12-volt battery and remove the control unit. Then create a repair order online and send the removed unit, well packed and by parcel, to Airbag24.

The repair is carried out in our workshop in Berlin. Processing usually takes 3–4 working days: we check the unit, repair it and test it. The repaired control unit comes back with all vehicle data and is ready for use immediately after reinstallation — coding or programming is not necessary.
