Mercedes-Benz EQT airbag control unit repair(1)
1 product

What should be noted about Mercedes-Benz EQT airbag control units?
The airbag control unit is the central unit of the airbag system in the Mercedes-Benz EQT. It evaluates the crash sensors, triggers the airbags and the belt tensioners, and reports faults via the airbag warning light. Airbag24 repairs your own control unit when you send it in.
After an accident, the control unit stores crash data and locks itself. If the airbag warning light stays on permanently, the system should be checked promptly, as a defective airbag control unit can impair the function of the entire system.
The airbag system is safety-relevant. Have it checked only by a specialist workshop and do not work on the system yourself. Whether a particular control unit can be repaired can only be determined by the inspection in our workshop.
Which Mercedes-Benz EQT generations are there?
The Mercedes-Benz EQT belongs to the W420 model series, whose production period starts in 2022. No other generations are listed for this model.
The EQT is the all-electric passenger car version of a compact van. For assigning the control unit, the model series therefore counts, not just the model name.
The list shows the model series with its production period. When identifying the control unit, the year of manufacture matters, as versions and software can differ within a model series.

How do I identify my Mercedes-Benz EQT airbag control unit?
The part number on the label of the control unit determines the exact version. The year of manufacture and the equipment of the vehicle must also be taken into account, as both narrow down the matching variant.
Note the part number and keep the year of manufacture and the vehicle identification number (VIN) to hand. This allows the control unit to be assigned clearly. An incorrect assignment can lead to malfunctions of the airbag system, so these details should be complete.
As examples of fault codes for this model series, we cite B1000 (airbag control unit defective or faulty), B1561 (triggering threshold exceeded, crash data stored) and U0151 (communication with the airbag control unit lost). A single code does not, however, prove a defect; only diagnosis reveals the cause.
Which airbag equipment does the Mercedes-Benz EQT have?
According to the ADAC equipment overview, the driver and front passenger airbags, a front side airbag, a front centre airbag and a front head airbag (window bag) are standard equipment on the Mercedes-Benz EQT. Knee airbags and rear-seat airbags are not listed in that overview.
The overview refers to one version of the EQT. Which modules are actually fitted in your vehicle depends on the equipment line, year of manufacture and market. Your vehicle's equipment list will show whether it has knee or rear-seat airbags.
The route to repair: have the fault memory read out at a specialist workshop. There the battery is disconnected and the control unit removed. Then create a repair order online and send the control unit to Airbag24 by parcel. The repair takes place in our workshop in Berlin.
Processing usually takes 3–4 working days (checking, repairing, testing). Shipping time is additional. The repaired control unit comes back with all vehicle data and is ready for use as soon as it is refitted — coding or programming is not necessary.
