Nissan Kubistar airbag control unit repair(1)

What should be considered with Nissan Kubistar airbag control units?

The airbag control unit is the central control unit of the airbag system in the Nissan Kubistar. It evaluates the crash sensors, triggers the airbags and belt tensioners, and monitors the entire system.

The control unit continuously checks how the system is functioning and reports faults via the airbag warning light on the dashboard. If this warning light is on, the system should be checked promptly by a specialist workshop. The airbag system is safety-relevant, so diagnosis and all work on it belong in the hands of a specialist workshop.

After an accident, the control unit stores crash data and locks itself. Airbag24 repairs the sent-in control unit you own and deletes the crash data professionally. Whether a particular unit can be repaired only becomes clear after it has been examined in our workshop in Berlin.

Which Nissan Kubistar generations are there?

The Nissan Kubistar series covered here is the X76, built from 2003 to 2009. Within this series, control units can differ depending on model year and equipment.

The series, not just the model name, determines the assignment. Therefore always state the model year of your vehicle in the repair order, as the build period and equipment decide which control unit fits.

  • X76 (2003–2009): series of the Nissan Kubistar to which the information on this page relates.

How do I identify my Nissan Kubistar airbag control unit?

The part number on the label of the control unit determines the exact version installed. Together with the model year and equipment of your Kubistar, it allows the right control unit to be identified.

The label is on the control unit itself. Read off the part number before you send the unit in and state it in the repair order. The model year and the vehicle identification number (VIN) also help with the assignment.

The following part numbers are examples and do not claim to be complete:

  • 605 04 49 00 / 8200 381 654
  • 606 08 33 00 / 8200 410 188

Examples of fault codes are B1209 (frontal collision detected, crash data stored in the control unit), B1210 (side collision detected, crash data stored in the control unit) and U1000 (CAN communication line faulty). However, a fault code on its own does not prove a defect in the control unit.

What airbag equipment does the Nissan Kubistar have?

According to available vehicle information, the driver airbag is standard equipment on the Kubistar. A passenger airbag was available as an option. Which other airbags are fitted in an individual vehicle depends on model year and equipment.

Depending on the equipment, further airbag modules may be fitted, such as side or head airbags. Check the equipment list of your vehicle to see whether these are present in your Kubistar and which ones.

This is how the repair works: have the fault memory read by a specialist workshop. The workshop disconnects the battery before removing the control unit. Then create a repair order online with Airbag24 and send the removed control unit, well packed, to us. Processing usually takes 3–4 working days: we check, repair and test the control unit. The repaired control unit comes back with all vehicle data and is ready for use immediately after refitting — no coding or programming is required.
