What should I bear in mind with Skoda Peaq airbag control units?
The airbag control unit is the central control unit of the airbag system in the Skoda Peaq. It evaluates the crash sensors, triggers the airbags and belt tensioners in an accident and monitors the entire system.
If a fault occurs in the system, the control unit reports it via the airbag warning light in the instrument cluster. The light alone does not show whether the control unit itself is defective. Reading out the fault memory is needed for that.
After an accident, the control unit stores crash data and locks itself. Airbag24 repairs your own control unit, which you send in. The repair takes place at our workshop in Berlin and includes, among other things, erasing the crash data and checking for faults.
Which Skoda Peaq generations are there?
The Skoda Peaq has been built since 2026, so far in one series: series 1. This series is still in production.
- 1 (since 2026) – the current and so far only series of the Skoda Peaq
Software and hardware versions of the control unit can differ even within one series. The exact design of the control unit therefore determines which repair is suitable.
How do I identify my Skoda Peaq airbag control unit?
The part number on the label of the control unit determines the exact version. Please also check the year of manufacture and the equipment of your vehicle.
The part number is often printed directly on the housing of the control unit. Note it down in full, together with the vehicle identification number (VIN) and the year of manufacture. With these details we can check the unit and assign it correctly.
A fault code is a clue, but not proof: on its own it does not show that the control unit is defective. Examples from the fault list for the Skoda Peaq are:
- 00595: crash data stored, airbags and belt tensioners triggered
- U0151: communication with the airbag control unit lost
- 00532: control unit supply voltage outside the permitted range
What airbag equipment does the Skoda Peaq have?
According to the manufacturer, ten airbags are fitted as standard in the Skoda Peaq, including a centre airbag and rear side airbags. The exact equipment of your vehicle can be found in the manufacturer's equipment list or from your dealer.
A centre airbag between the front seats is intended to stop the occupants from striking each other in a side impact. The airbags work together with the seat belts, and the airbag control unit coordinates the triggering of all modules.
Modern vehicles usually have front, side and head airbags. Whether a knee airbag is also fitted depends on the individual vehicle.
To get your unit repaired, first have the fault memory read out. Have the battery disconnected and the control unit removed by a specialist workshop, as the airbag system is safety-relevant. Then create a repair order online and send in the control unit. Processing usually takes 3–4 working days, during which the unit is checked, repaired and tested. Whether a particular fault can be repaired only becomes clear on examination.
The repaired control unit is returned with all vehicle data and is ready for use immediately after refitting: no coding or programming is required.
