Suzuki Across airbag control unit repair

Suzuki Across airbag control unit repair(2)

What should I know about Suzuki Across airbag control units?

The Suzuki Across airbag control unit evaluates the crash sensors, triggers the airbags and belt tensioners, and monitors the entire airbag system. If it detects a fault, it reports it via the airbag warning light in the instrument cluster.

After an accident, the control unit stores crash data and locks itself. Because the airbag system is safety-relevant, diagnosis and removal belong in the hands of a specialist workshop. A fault in the airbag system should therefore be checked promptly.

Airbag24 works on a mail-in basis: you send in your own control unit, and we repair it in our workshop in Berlin. The repair includes erasing the crash data.

Which Suzuki Across generations are there?

The Suzuki Across has been offered in two generations: XA50 (2020 to 2025) and XA90 (since 2026). The model year shows which generation your vehicle belongs to.

The first generation was introduced in 2020 as a plug-in hybrid SUV, including for the European market.

The second generation, the XA90, has been available since 2026. It is also a plug-in hybrid and the current version of the model.

  • XA50 (2020–2025) – first generation as a plug-in hybrid SUV
  • XA90 (since 2026) – second and current generation

How do I identify my Suzuki Across airbag control unit?

The part number on the label of the control unit determines the exact version. The model year and equipment also matter, because the airbag system can differ between model years and equipment levels.

Note the part number before you send the unit in, together with the model year and the vehicle identification number (VIN). These details help assign the correct version of the control unit.

A fault memory in the Suzuki Across may show codes such as B1000 (communication fault inside the airbag control unit), B1020 (internal memory fault) or B1500 (crash data stored, cannot be erased). However, a single fault code alone does not prove that the control unit is defective. A diagnosis at a specialist workshop clarifies the cause. Until then, the airbag system should not be opened by yourself.

What airbag equipment does the Suzuki Across have?

The Suzuki Across is fitted with several airbags. Typical equipment includes front airbags for driver and front passenger, front side airbags, curtain airbags and a knee airbag on the driver's side.

Which airbags are installed in your vehicle depends on the market, model year and trim level. What matters is which modules your vehicle actually has. The control unit coordinates the deployment of all installed modules.

This is how you get to a repair: have the fault memory read out. Then have the battery disconnected and the control unit removed by a specialist workshop. Create a repair order online and send the control unit to us. Processing usually takes 3–4 working days for checking, repairing and testing.

The repaired control unit comes back with all vehicle data and is ready for use immediately after reinstallation — no coding or programming is necessary.
