What is a BYD Han 1st generation airbag control unit?

In the BYD Han 1st generation, the airbag control unit is the central control unit of the restraint system (SRS). In an accident it decides within milliseconds, based on the crash sensors, which airbags and seatbelt pretensioners to deploy. After an accident it stores crash data and locks itself.

The control unit is fitted in the BYD Han 1st generation (2023 to 2025). It constantly monitors the sensors, squib circuits and wiring of the system, so that a failure is noticed before it matters in an emergency.
