Subaru E-Outback airbag control unit repair(1)
1 product

What should you know about Subaru E-Outback airbag control units?
The airbag control unit of the Subaru E-Outback evaluates the crash sensors, triggers airbags and belt tensioners, and monitors the entire airbag system. If the system detects a fault, the airbag warning light comes on. Airbag24 repairs the control unit you send in.
After an accident, the control unit stores crash data and locks itself. Airbag24 deletes the crash data during the repair.
The airbag warning light indicates that a fault is stored in the system. Whether a specific fault can be repaired only becomes clear once the unit has been checked in our workshop in Berlin.
Only specialist workshops should work on the airbag system, because it is safety-relevant.
Which Subaru E-Outback generations are there?
One series is currently recorded for the Subaru E-Outback, built since 2026 and still in production. This series is therefore the current version of the model.
The Subaru E-Outback is a battery-electric wagon-style SUV. It should not be equated with the Outback version with a combustion engine. For assignment, the model year and part number matter, not the model name alone.

How do I identify my Subaru E-Outback airbag control unit?
The part number on the label of the control unit determines the exact version. Model year and equipment also help to match the correct unit.
Read the part number in full and compare it with the vehicle identification number (VIN) of your vehicle. Matching the part number, model year and VIN is important, because control units within one series can differ in their version.
The fault memory also provides clues. It may contain, for example, code U0151 (communication with the airbag control unit over the CAN bus lost) or code 22 (front airbag and belt tensioner triggered, crash data stored). A single code does not prove a fault, however; only the inspection reveals the cause.
Which airbag equipment does the Subaru E-Outback have?
The airbag equipment of the Subaru E-Outback depends on trim level and market. Which airbags are fitted in your vehicle can be found in the vehicle documentation.
Front, side and head airbags are usually standard equipment in vehicles of this class. Additional modules, such as knee airbags, vary depending on the version.
All of these modules are coordinated by the airbag control unit. It evaluates the sensors and decides on deployment.
The route to repair: have the fault memory read out first. The battery is then disconnected and the control unit removed; a specialist workshop should handle these steps, because electric vehicles such as the E-Outback are subject to special rules. Then create a repair order online and send in the control unit.
Processing usually takes 3–4 working days: checking, repairing and testing.
The repaired control unit returns with all vehicle data and is ready for use immediately after reinstallation — no coding or programming is required.
