The Lexus CT was produced as only one generation, the CT 200h (model code ZWA10). Nevertheless, during its production period from 2011 to 2022, it underwent several facelifts and model updates that further developed the vehicle both technically and visually.
Although there was no second generation in the traditional sense, the updates made over the years reflect technological advances. These updates affected, among other things, equipment and safety features, but did not change the basic architecture of the airbag system.
The development of the safety system focused instead on optimizing the control unit software and hardware to adapt airbag deployment even more precisely to different collision scenarios. This ensured that the CT always remained at the cutting edge of passive safety.
Lexus CT airbag control units can be uniquely identified by their part number, year of manufacture, and vehicle identification number (VIN). This information is critical to ensuring compatibility with the specific vehicle model during repair.
The part number is usually located directly on the airbag control unit itself. Since the Lexus CT was continuously developed throughout its production years, different revisions of the control units may have been installed even within a single generation.
It is therefore essential to have all relevant vehicle data at hand in the event of a faulty airbag control unit. This enables a precise diagnosis and professional repair or replacement of the specific module to restore full functionality of the safety systems.
The Lexus CT 200h features a very comprehensive range of standard airbags, which is exceptional for its class. A total of eight SRS airbags are fitted as standard, underscoring the vehicle's high level of safety.
Standard equipment includes dual-stage front airbags for the driver and front passenger, which adjust according to the severity of the impact. Side airbags for the front passengers provide protection in side collisions.
Furthermore, side curtain airbags are installed for the front and outer rear seats, providing comprehensive head protection in the event of a side impact or rollover. A special feature of the Lexus CT are the standard knee airbags for the driver and front passenger, which are rare in this vehicle class and offer additional protection for the lower extremities.
