Error code B1060 indicates an internal software, firmware, or initialization fault in the airbag control unit. This means that the control unit cannot start up correctly when the vehicle is started, typically due to corrupted software data, an invalid checksum, or a failed initialization process. As a result, the device becomes functionally blocked.

Technically, the control unit performs a self-test every time the ignition is turned on. Error B1060 is triggered when this test fails at a fundamental software level. The system is unable to verify the integrity of its own operating software and, for safety reasons, enters a fault mode.

A crucial role here is played by the checksum. This is a type of digital signature that ensures the firmware data has not been altered or damaged.
